The Midtown Brandywine Block Party 2023 is in our memory books, Facebook pages, and photo libraries! The food was fantastic, the friends old and new were delightful, and the raffle/silent auction donations amazing. There are so many great volunteers and donors to thank!
The wind was brisk, but the sun came out and the fun, food and friendship brightened the day.
We had had cornhole, tower blocks, yard badminton and face painting to keep up our energy. Thanks to Michael Phillips, we had a fun playlist and a microphone for our master of ceremonies, Joel Stango.
We also had a native plant sale, information on the Midtown Monarch Monitors, and fundraiser merchandise for the Midtown Cat Rescue Project and the new Little Free Library.
We are very grateful to the businesses that donated raffle and silent auction items:
RIV Athletics, Pure Yoga Pilates Studio, Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Hagley Museum and Library, Dorcea, Cafe Mezzanotte, The Quoin, Swigg Real Wine Craft Beer & Spirits, Scout Café, Pet Supplies Plus Wilmington, StretchPlex, Zyng Nails & Spa, OperaDelaware, The Chancery Market, and Moore Brothers Wine Company. Some generous neighbors donated as well.
Volunteers, in addition to the members of the Midtown Brandywine Neighbors’ Association board who solicited donations and helped throughout the day, included Loretta Young, for the rectangular tables, tablecloths, and lovely centerpieces, Irene Vogel, for preparing the delicious vegetarian entrée, and Christine Serio-Shively for working with Joel Stango to make the meatballs and sauce.
Also, many thanks to those who helped set up, clean the street, take down, keep things from blowing away, and sell tickets, including Sreeparka Sarkar, Anupam Basu, Adele Blanchard, Carol Caso Ruggerio and Rob Ruggerio, Lauren Musumeci, Nadine Moone, Glenn and Trish Kocher, Eddi Shivley, Bob Goff, and Marcelino Milan.
And of course, thank you to all of the neighbors who brought fantastic side dishes and desserts! Everyone helped make the day wonderful!
